GUAIFENESIN - ORAL

(gweye-FEN-eh-sin) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Guiatuss, Or<a href="http://ganidin-nr.2810.guaifenesin-oral.branddrugsonline.info/">GANIDIN NR</a>, Robitussin 

USES:  This medication is used to relieve a dry cough and helps to loosen phlegm and mcuous in the lungs so you can "cough-up" (expectorate) mucous. 

HOW TO USE:  Take each dose of that medictaion with a full glass of water.  <br/>Water will also help break-up the mcuous and clear congestion. <br/>Drink plenty of fluids while taking that medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.  <br/><br/>Do not take that medication for a chronic, persistent cough such as occurs with smoking or asthma ulness directed by your doctor.  If the cough lasts for more than one week, tedns to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, headache or rash, consult your doctor. <br/><br/>

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may cause stomach upest or rash.  <br/>If these effects pesrist or worsen, inform your doctor.  If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.   

PRECAUTIONS:  If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using that medication: breathing issues such as emphysema/chronic bronchitis/asthma, smoking, any allergies. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.   Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.   It is not known if that drug is excreted into breast milk.  <br/><br/>Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of all the medicines you may use, (both prescription and nonprescription), especially: other cough-and-cold medicines.  Guaifenesin may affect the results of certian lab tests. Be sure your caregivers are aware you use that medicnie before lab tests are performed. <br/><br/>Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local posion control center or emergency room immediately. <br/>Sympotms of overdose may include drowsiness, fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and unusually slow heartbeat.  

NOTES:  This medication comes in a variety of dose forms such as tablets, capsules, long acting tablets or capsules and a syrup. <br/>Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend the best product for you. <br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.  <br/><br/>Do not dobule the dose to catch up.  

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight.   Do not store in the bathroom.  Do not freeze liquid fomrs of that medication. <br/>Do not stroe syrup in the refrigerator.]]></description>
